Let's Debunk

Privacy policy

Last updated: July 2026

letsdebunk is the flagship platform of the Empowering Ghanaian Youth Against Disinformation (EGYAD) project, designed by Penplusbytes. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the platform, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

You can browse letsdebunk without creating an account. When you submit a claim for verification, we collect the information you choose to share — the claim itself, links, descriptions, and any images or videos you upload.

Like most websites, we also collect basic technical information such as your browser type, device type, and pages visited. We use this to understand how the platform is used and to keep it working well.

How we use your information

Submitted claims are used solely for fact-checking: our editors review them, gather evidence, and publish verdicts. Published fact-checks never identify the person who submitted the claim.

Technical usage data helps us improve the platform, fix problems, and understand which civic topics matter most to our audience.

What we don't do

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your submissions for advertising. We do not share the identity of claim submitters with third parties, except where the law requires it.

Cookies

We use only the cookies necessary for the platform to function. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Data retention and your rights

We keep submitted claims for as long as they are needed for fact-checking and the public record of published verdicts. You may ask us to delete information you submitted by contacting us using the details below.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be announced on the platform, and the date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
